Orchard City trustees called a special meeting on Nov. 30 for the purpose of holding an executive session to discuss a "personnel matter." The motion did not provide any further specificity regarding the topic. The closed-door meeting lasted for a full hour.
Following adjournment of the executive session and special meeting, trustees discussed business including a bid of $1,950 for crack sealing the town hall parking lot; a $1,000 computer purchase; a used road sander the town has purchased; and, the proposed hiring of two additional staff next year.
The town's proposed 2017 budget stands at $1.93 million and consists of spending plans for the following departments: general fund, $375,471; road fund $284,493; water fund $978,386; water capital construction fund $236,000; and park fund $58,730.
At about 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, officers of the Delta Police Department were dispatched to a robbery reported at Arby's, located at 107 Gunnison River Drive. An extensive search of the area was conducted and the suspect was not located.
The suspect was reported to have walked into Arby's and after a brief conversation with an employee, was able to leave the store with a small amount of cash and coins.
