Orchard City trustees will meet April 13

The current Orchard City Town Board will have one more full business meeting together on April. 13.

Then, on the following Wednesday, April 20, the trustees will convene in an official special meeting to seat the new mayor and trustees.

State law requires that following the April 5 municipal election a 10-day period occur before the final official results of the balloting are determined. While it is unlikely that any of the results from Orchard City's voting will change in that time, the results still cannot be considered official until April 15, two days after the trustees' regular meeting in April. That is also the last day that an individual can submit a request for a recount of the vote, at their own expense.

Since the town board's regular meeting occurs on April 13, the results of the election will not have been made final and official by that time. So, the April 20 special meeting was set for the purpose of seating the new board and mayor on a date after the results had been made official by state law.

The town trustees are looking at a fairly short agenda for their final full meeting together on April 13. Business for the session includes the following:

• Honoring of the town student of the month;

• Action on an annual contract with Field of Dreams for use of town youth sports facilities;

• Action on proposed approval of a town emergency response manual;

• And action on an amendment to the town's personnel policy.

There are also routine reports from standing committees if any business has been handled by them; a report from the town staff; and the mayor's report.
