A trio of third-place finishes highlighted Paonia's boys' day at last Saturday's Delta Invitational meet.
Warren Minerich posted two of those third-place scores in discus and shot put competitions. Minerich sailed the discus 114-08 for third in that event and tossed the shot 41-06 for six more points.
Paonia had a fourth-place finish from Cameron Van Vleet in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.97.
Blake Benson also participated in the discus and shot events where he placed fifth in both. Austin Katzer was fifth in the 110-meter high hurdles, with Van Vleet taking fifth in the 100-meter dash.
Caden Meilner had an eighth-place finish in the 3200-meter run and the Eagles' 4x800 relay team posted the same place finish.
On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
