Paonia's girls put together a solid effort last Saturday to score 106 points and a third-place finish at the Delta Invitational meet. Freshman Alexandra Eaton and senior Marisa Edmondson had first-place finishes for the Eagles.

Eaton ran an 18.85 to win the 100-meter hurdles while Edmondson crossed the finish line in 13.31 to win the 100-meter dash.

There were four second-place finishes for the Eagles, beginning with Poppy Lightfoot's 1:08.18 finish in the 400 meters. Chelsea Meilner was second in the 3200-meter run (13:27.48) and Brianna Van Vleet sailed 16-09.75 in long jump. The Eagles' 800-meter medley was second in that race with a time of 1:59.63. Hotchkiss won the race in a time of 1:58.57.

Van Vleet earned a third place in the 100-meter dash and Taylor Carsten was third in shot put (34-09.5).

Earning 15 points for their fourth-place finishes were Edmondson in the 200 meters (27.99), Brooke Hillman in the 800-meter run (2:41) and Emily Clawson in shot put (34-02).

Taylor Carsten was fifth in discus and third in shot put competition (34-09.5). The 4x100 relay team, and Anika Carlson (400 meters), placed fifth as well for Paonia.

McKenna Palmer (100-meter hurdles) and Kassidy Rapke (long jump) had sixth-place finishes for the Eagles.

Completing the scoring for Paonia with a seventh-place finish was Chelsea Meilner in the 1600-meter run (seventh) and an eighth finish in the 800-meter run.

Paonia travels to Hotchkiss this Saturday to compete in the Hotchkiss Invitational.
