The Paonia girls scored 81 points to tie with Coal Ridge for first place at the annual Cedaredge Invitational.
The girls won four individual events. Sophia Anderson claimed her second win of the season in the 100-meter dash with a wind-hampered time of 13.20 seconds, and won the 200m in 26.62 seconds. Anderson also won the triple jump with a distance of 35 feet, 9.75 inches.
Brianna Van Vleet won the long jump at 16 feet, 8 inches. Emily Pieper won silver in the long jump with a leap of 16-6.25.
In distance events, junior Brooke Hillman won the 800m run in 2 minutes, 29.86 seconds. Junior Nora Dransfield posted a personal best time of 5:45 to finish fifth, and placed fifth in the 3200m (that's eight laps around the track); freshman Katya Schwieterman placed 10th in both distance events, and shaved 12 second off of her prior best time in the 1600m.
McKenna Palmer took seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 33-09.75, and placed seventh in the 100m hurdles.
Poppy Lightfoot placed sixth in the 400m 1:05.05, and Lyla Hayutin-Baril placed seventh in the 300m hurdles.
In the 3200m Nora Dransfield placed fifth, and Randi Rapki finished seventh in the 800m.
In throwing events, Sabrina Leighton PR'd in both events, placing sixth in the shot put with a throw of 33-2.
On the boys side, Paonia throwers Warren Minerich and Blake Benson placed in both events. Benson took silver in the discuss with a new personal best distance of 137-11 and Minerich placed eighth with a throw of 120-06; in the shot put, Minerich placed second with a throw of 42-05, and Benson placed eighth with a throw of 37-03.
Paonia also placed fifth in the 4x800m relay and sixth in the 800m sprint medley.
