Beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 26, the regularly scheduled bi-monthly meetings of the Town of Paonia Board of Trustees will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m.
Also changing, unfinished and new business will now be conducted at the end of the meeting, rather than at the beginning. New business items, currently addressed early in the meetings, will be addressed towards the end of the meeting. The changes were adopted to be more in line with Robert's Rules of Order.
Items not likely to require deliberation or public comment, such as roll call and approval of minutes and agenda, will now be packaged under one "Consent Agenda" item. If a controversial item or one requiring discussion is placed with other consent items, trustees have the power to remove them from the consent agenda or have them placed on the agenda as a separate item.
Department reports that have traditionally fallen at the end of the agenda will now occur early in the meetings. All attempts to end the meetings by 9:30 p.m. will be made.
Trustees voted unanimously to adopt the changes in July.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
