The Paonia Senior Citizens Center has several events planned in the coming weeks.
On Wednesday, April 26, the center will host a "90's Celebration" for all people who are 90 or older as of that date. The event includes a nice lunch and music, and is free for anyone who is 90 or older. Please RSVP and let the center know if you need a ride by calling 527-3435, or Lynne at 527-4544.
On Wednesday, May 3, the center will hold a bake sale from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., offering cookies, cakes, pies, peanut brittle and more. The event is open to the public. Proceeds benefit the center and help pay for insurance and extra expenses.
The center will also offer Dominoes on Mondays after lunch (about 12:30), and from 11 a.m. to noon Fridays. Admission is a $3 donation for those ages 60 and older. The center is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Volunteers are also wanted to help with meals and delivery of Meals on Wheels.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
