If you see this contraption on your street, it's a self-contained leaf collector recently purchased by the Town of Paonia to clean debris from streets and gutters.

The Town of Paonia will hold its annual spring clean-up week June 19-23. Throughout the week, all in-town residents can have permitted items picked up free of charge on their regularly-scheduled trash pick-up day.

Acceptable items include:

• Yard waste and lumber no more than five feet in length and bundled;

• Stoves; and

• Freezers, refrigerators and air conditioning units with a freon tag (contact your local plumber for freon removal). Any items containing freon that are not tagged can be picked up for an additional fee.

Unacceptable items include:

• Any flammable materials;

• Electronics; and

• All other items not accepted at the county land fill.

If large items are not removed at the time of trash pick-up, crews will note addresses and return at a later time to collect them, so please be patient. For all weekend warriors or those who miss putting their items out with their regular household trash, extra dumpsters will be available at Paonia Town Park.

For more information, contact the town at 527-4101.
