Patricia "Patti" Russell of Paonia died Dec. 7, 2015. She was 58.
She was born in Bristol, Pa., Nov. 9, 1957, to Herbert and Marilyn Guy. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1975 and moved to Colorado.
On Aug. 8, 1980, she married Charlie Russell. The family moved to Paonia in 1993 where they had a five-acre farm on Lamborn Mesa.
Mrs. Russell raised horses, pigs, rabbits, cats, dogs, chickens, turkeys, ducks and peacocks and cared for her fruit trees, half-acre garden, alfalfa fields and yard. She enjoyed hunting elk in the backcountry with her muzzleloader and her horse, Hatchet.
She is survived by her husband, Charlie; her sons, Henry and Elliott (Laura); her sisters, Vicki Long, Peggy Havens and Wendy Rabon; a brother, Earl Guy; and extended family.
Services were held Dec. 12.

On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
