Paul L. Cook died July 5, 2016, at HopeWest in Grand Junction. He was 89.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 29, at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta.
Paul L. Cook was born July 15, 1926, to Bert and Lela (Bledsoe) Cook in Cahone. He was raised in Barnes, Kan. and joined the Army in 1944 and delivered food to troops in gliders. He was honorably discharged Nov. 27, 1946, and returned to the family farm in Barnes.
He married C. Louise Novak Dec. 24, 1950, in Clay Center, Kan. She died Nov. 30, 1982, in Delta.
He married Mildred Nelson July 17, 1984, in Cahone. She died April 30, 2016.
He owned and operated the Flying 'A' Motel in North Delta and Cook Salvage. He studied auto body repair in Nashville, Tenn., and removed/poured concrete formations in Detriot, Mich.
He is survived by four children, Nancy Tharp of Orlando, Fla., David and Zandra Cook of Chicago, Ill., and Linn (George) Cook of Delta; three stepdaughters, Margaret "Maggie" (Gene) Byrne of Palisade, Beverly Cox of Lander, Wyo., and Judy (John) Stratton of Grand Junction; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Cook was preceded in death by both of his wives, nine siblings, and two sons, Lewis and Daniel.
