Delta resident Paul Griffith died Jan. 26, 2017, at Delta County Memorial Hospital. He was 83.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at First Assembly of God in Delta with Pastor Veronica Smith officiating. Interment will be held at 1 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado in Grand Junction with military honors.
Mr. Griffith was born in El Dorado, Kan., Aug. 14, 1933, to Frank and Clara (Hand) Griffith. He spent his childhood and attended school in El Dorado.
On Oct. 8, 1953, he married Carrie Faunce in El Dorado. They had four children.
Mr. Griffith was a member of First Assembly of God in Delta, Lee Marts VFW Post #3571, the American Legion and the American Motorcycle Association.
He was an automotive mechanic by trade. He was a devoted member of his church and enjoyed spending time with his family, cartoons, music, playing guitar, fishing, trains and baseball, especially the Colorado Rockies. He fought a 40-year battle with emphysema and COPD.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Carrie; four children, Jeff (Debbie) Griffith of Cedaredge, Paul (Amanda) Griffith Jr., Becky (Charlie) Hendrickson and Treva (Chuck) Gregory, all of Delta; a sister, Edith Griffith of El Dorado, Kan.; 11 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
