Paul Weiss died Friday, Aug. 28, 2015, at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction. He was 65.
No services are planned.
Mr. Weiss was born in Delta Dec. 27, 1949, to William and Anna (Heuser) Weiss. He grew up in Paonia and graduated from Paonia High School in 1969.
He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force after high school.
He worked as an electrician in commercial construction and was a member of IBEW Local #969. He worked in several states in the western U.S. before retiring to Delta five years ago.
Mr. Weiss was a member of American Legion Wilson Head Post #97 in Paonia.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, music, computers, travel, and was handy at fixing things. He was a Broncos fan.
Mr. Weiss is survived by his son, Matthew Weiss of Grand Junction; his daughter, Stacy (Jon) Chiles of Las Vegas, Nev.; his sisters, Dr. Darlene (Dr. Don) Nash of Lafayette, Calif., Mary Hartwig and Carolyn (Jack) Hawkins, all of Delta; and two grandsons, Jon and Cameron.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Leonard Weiss; and two sisters, Dorothy Faries and Luella Mackenroth.
Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory handled the arrangements.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
