Katherine Ames of Delta, a freshman at Fort Lewis College, was honored with the college mathematics HOPE Award. This award is for students who demonstrate hard work, have possibly overcome obstacles, have shown persistence and have high expectations, as evidenced by exponential growth throughout the term. Ames' major is elementary education.
The freshman math program at Fort Lewis College is designed to help all students achieve their goals for higher education by helping them develop mathematical skills and thinking, to increase their confidence in their mathematical abilities, and to inspire students to pursue mathematics with enthusiasm.
On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
