Members of the Delta County School and Public Employees Retirement Association (DCSPERA), which is a local unit of the Colorado School and Public Employees Retirement Association (CSPERA), are advocates for PERA. Member dues enable CSPERA to advocate for public pension, provide legislative and PERA information, and provide training and support to the local units.

Recently DCSPERA members attended a CSPERA board meeting and legislative forum in Aurora. While there they heard the Colorado Budget Straight Talk from Carol Hedges, Colorado Fiscal Institute; Influence of Money in Politics from the Boulder League of Women Voters; Fake News from Derigan Silver, University of Denver; Ballot Access Process from Joe Albion, from the office of the Colorado secretary of state. A panel of gubenatorial candidates expressed their platforms either in person or by video.

All PERA employees either retired or active are encouraged to join CSPERA and DCSPERA. To renew your membership or become a new member, contact Rhonda Pinckard at

The next DCSPERA meeting will be held at Daveto's on Nov. 9 at 5 p.m. There will be a business meeting, an activity involving proposed changes to PERA, and then you may order dinner. RSVP to Nancy Carlson at or 970-640-1163.
