The Hotchkiss Bulldogs volleyball program is seeking sponsors and donations for its Oct. 6 game against rival Paonia. "Hotchkiss Volleyball Pink Out" will recognize October as Breast Cancer Awareness Week by raising money to support the oncology department at Delta County Memorial Hospital.
Each year the Colorado High School Activities Association, in conjunction with the AmericanCancer Society, promotes breast cancer awareness throughout the month of October, which coincides with October as National Breast Cancer Awareness month. Schools are encouraged to "think pink" and come up with ways to promote awareness at a home volleyball match sometime in October.
The evening will include a bake sale, silent auction items and door prizes. Business sponsors will have pink balloons placed at their locations on game day. For details, contact HHS at 872-3882.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
