Plant & Dig hosts monthly programs

By Joan Chambers

The Plant & Dig Garden Club of Cedaredge held its monthly meeting on Feb. 19. There was a full house with husbands and partners also present for a most informative program given by Austin Keiser, president of the Water Conservancy District, on water issues in the Surface Creek Valley. His knowledge is mind-boggling! He provided all of us with a much greater understanding of where our water comes from, where it goes, who controls it, and so much more! All of us who were present thank him for enlightening us on this complex matter and for taking the time to speak to our club members and guests.

Our March meeting will be held Friday, March 18, at 2 p.m. Our program this month will be provided by our members about each one's favorite birds. There will be good information about these birds, and, we believe, many personal stories and good laughs about our experiences with our feathered friends.

In April, we look forward to a visit with the gardening crew at the Delta Parks Department, learning about how they make the baskets along Main Street, the beautiful islands in the highway dividers, and the many gardens around Delta look so beautiful throughout the summer. What a treat that will be for all of us!

We invite all persons who are interested in gardening to join our club. Our focus centers always on learning more about every aspect of gardening, offering a helping hand to our community and of course, friendship. For more information please call 856-3897 or 970-901-9360.
