The Delta Kiwanis Club's fifth annual Texas Hold'em Charity Poker Tournament held April 2, 2016, at Bill Heddles Recreation Center garnered approximately $4,500 for service projects that focus on Delta children, with Josh Applegate named as the tournament winner.
The fundraiser is a partnership between the Delta Kiwanis Club and Western Slope Poker Tour LLC, with proceeds from this year's event earmarked to fund the club's Delta Library service project. Plans include refurbishing the children's reading area with contemporary mobile book carts, furniture and freshly painted shelving and walls.
For the fifth year in a row, numerous businesses and organizations came together in support of the tournament as table sponsors and as donors of prizes valued at approximately $1,000, which were raffled off throughout the evening.
This year's table sponsors included Hellman Motor Company, ProSpace Interiors, Ranae Coffman of Edward Jones, Alpine Bank, Western Slope Poker, Bank of Colorado, Rand Speas Insurance Agency, David James DDS, First Colorado National Bank, Flower Motors and TK Mining.
