City of Delta building inspector Dan Reardon has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation. City manager David Torgler declined to comment on the nature of that investigation, citing personnel issues.
Reardon has served as the city building inspector for an estimated 20 years. At a council meeting in September, local contractors complained Reardon's actions have cost them time and money, to the point some refuse to do business in city limits.
Torgler said Bruce Stanley has been hired on a temporary, part-time business to do some inspections. The city is also using a private company to provide plan review services. The state has been doing electrical inspections and will be asked to also do plumbing, a service provided in other communities.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
