Rebecca O. Hurford of Delta died Feb. 16, 2016, at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction. She was 72.
She was born in Montrose Oct. 1, 1943, to Pres and Josephine (Chavez) Manzanares. She graduated from Montrose High School in 1960.
She married Albert Hurford in 1971 in Las Vegas, Nev.
Mrs. Hurford worked as an optician at Walmart in Delta.
She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. She was a co-organizer of Relay for Life in Delta and enjoyed bingo, all animals, especially cats and dogs, reading, needlework, puzzles and cooking.
Mrs. Hurford is survived by her stepchildren, Donald (Kathy) Hurford, Dale (Barbara) Hurford, Dennis (Rose) Hurford and Melissa (Bill) Claypool; her brothers, Joseph Manzanares and John (Colleen) Manzanares; her sisters, Rose Gurulé and Mary (Ken) Waters; and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Hurford; a sister, Margaret Cline; a brother, Alex Manzanares; and a stepson, Danny Hurford.
A memorial service was held Friday, Feb. 19, at St. Michael Catholic Church.

On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
