Longtime Paonia resident Robert Louis Bryson died Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, at his home. He was 95.
No formal services will be held at this time.
Mr. Bryson was born in Long Beach, Calif., June 5, 1920, to LaVerne and Margaret (Harbaugh) Bryson. He graduated from high school in Ventura, Calif. He attended Ventura College.
On Feb. 16, 1942, he married Naomi Lenzi in Chicago, Ill.
Mr. Bryson was a colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps. After retiring, he moved to Paonia where he lived for 48 years.
He enjoyed animals, raising horses and reading.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Naomi of Paonia; three sons, Jeffrey (Barbara) Bryson of Tucson, Ariz., Clayton (Tamis) Bryson of Bayfield and Robert (Melissa) Bryson of Aurora; four daughters, Natalie Stettner of New York City, N.Y., Veronica (Donald) Sprouse of Broomfield, Margaret (Anthony) Stimac of Berthoud and Maureen (Brian) Ayers of Paonia; a sister, Marjorie Spear of Arkansas; a sister-in-law, Sheila Bryson of Ventura, Calif.; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
