Longtime Cedaredge resident Robert A. Honganen died July 5, 2017, at his home. He was 84.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 12, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Cedaredge with Pastor Don Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Cedaredge Cemetery.
Mr. Honganen was born June 28, 1933, in Calumet, Mich., to Richard and Elma (Haapala) Honganen. He grew up in Michigan, Arizona and New Mexico. He graduated from high school in Carlsbad, N.M., and joined the U.S. Army.
On Aug. 9, 1957, he married Marilyn Henley in Carlsbad, N.M. After serving in the Army, Mr. Honganen and his family lived in Riverside, Calif., for 35 years before moving to Cedaredge.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marilyn Honganen of Cedaredge; two daughters, Jayne Honganen of Cedaredge and Karen (Gregory) Collins of Cedaredge; one brother, Gordon Honganen of Kerrville, Texas; three sisters, Nancy Henley of Carlsbad, N.M., Betty Burba of Taylor, Texas, and Evelyn Wilkinson of Carlsbad, N.M.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Honganen.

On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
