Robert Duane Roesler of Hotchkiss died April 16, 2017, at Montrose Memorial Hospital. He was 70.
He was born March 3, 1947, in Miller, S.D., to Emil and Martha (Moos) Roesler. He graduated from Miller High School in 1965.
After graduation, he enrolled in the U.S. Navy and served from 1965-1969. He moved to Orient, S.D., after discharge and married Mary Ellen Holt in Orient, S.D., on Nov. 28, 1970.
He and his wife farmed and raised cattle and pigs. In 1990, he moved his family to Hotchkiss where he outfitted for 14 years and developed a construction company with his son. His illness forced him to retire in 2009.
Mr. Roesler was a member of the Hotchkiss Elks Lodge and Delta Trap Club.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of Hotchkiss; son, Chadrick of Orient, S.D.; daughters, Traci (Joseph) Stroh of Hotchkiss and Tamara of Aurora; four grandchildren, Lane, Kiera and Chael Stroh and Dylan Hernandez-Roesler; brothers, Don (Joan) Roesler of Gettysburg, S.D. and Lynn Roesler of Savannah, Ga.; and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Verna Volek; sister-in-law, Phyllis Holt-Nichols; and brother-in-law, Neal Johnson.
Funeral services will be held in Miller, S.D., with internment at Prairie View Cemetery in Orient, S.D.

On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
