My wife and I were awakened at 7 a.m. Sunday morning by a person telling us our computer was in need of service as it had problems. This is not the first time these calls have come to us. We have a competent serviceman who keeps our machine in top running order. My efforts to tell this person this warranted TWO more calls by noon of the same day.
First, anyone trusting enough to allow a person over the phone to access your computer is not only trusting but a little bit screwy. Who knows what they want your computer for? Now, do we have a right to privacy? Others, diabetes offers, lower your credit card rates, get a better mortgage, etc., at least five unwanted calls we have to field. I know we need jobs, but we also have the right to refuse them; yet, they persist like maybe they'll change your mind. Fat chance of that.
Then there is our no call service, which is just another avenue for people to have a job. To say this is out of hand is putting it mildly. As retired citizens all we desire is to live our lives as we see fit, not having to placate these bothersome people.
