Roeber understands, respects county's citizens

Dear Editor:

This upcoming election provides a clear choice in candidates for county commissioner for District 3. The Republican candidate, Mark Roeber, is a lifelong resident of Delta County and a proven commissioner who is campaigning on promoting commerce while preserving our environment, character and culture and actively seeking citizen involvement. The Democrat candidate, Jeremy Lowe, moved to Delta County in 2006. He is an outspoken advocate of the retail sale of marijuana in Delta County as well as stopping the production of our coal and natural gas resources -- what he calls "dirty energy."

I attended a meeting hosted by Mr. Lowe at the Paonia Public Library on April 13, 2016. At that meeting, Mr. Lowe offered his vision of the future of marijuana in Delta County. He stated that if elected he will get the laws changed in Delta County to allow marijuana growing, manufacturing and sales in the county. As stated by Mr. Lowe, the commissioners are basically "kings" and they can do that without a vote of the people. He also stated that anyone who disagrees with the legalization of marijuana in the county should move, preferably to Saudi Arabia since that is how they think there. Mr. Lowe also stated that if he were not elected he would initiate the process to separate the North Fork from the rest of Delta County.

Voters of Delta County don't vote Lowe. I strongly encourage you to vote for Mark Roeber for Delta County Commissioner. We need a county commissioner who understands and respects the citizens of Delta County, not a demagogue who believes anyone who disagrees with him should move out of the country.
