Roeber's soft-spoken approach has proven effective

Dear Editor:

In the June 1 DCI, Mr. Stucker defined three reasons to direct your vote to Bentley. In the June 8 DCI, Mr. Sutton defined his reasons why your vote should be for Bentley. A closer, logical evaluation of this reasoning would indicate that Mark Roeber is the one for your vote.

First of all, the fundamental arguments are the same -- push back, scream and yell against the politically correct efforts and overreach of higher government, and never compromise. Effective actions never come from screaming and yelling, coupled with no compromise. This is easily proven by simply looking at how little the federal legislators have accomplished in the last four years. Our county has always found that compromise leads to the best solutions. Mark's quiet/soft spoken, logical approach will be much more effective in discussions with all the government organizations of concern that Mr. Stucker calls out. When you have no direct power over someone who you need to move in a direction more favorable to your needs, you never go on public record or into a meeting with a person or organization with your mouth blazing on how unconstitutional their actions are. The local people that the BOCC have actual interactions with are simply carrying out the orders from above. A "soft-pedaled" and logical approach is the only way you can gain advantages. That makes Mark the one for your vote.

My point is further proven by Mr. Stucker's own words -- "I don't see Mark making even a strong vocal condemnation of this but I sure see Roger making his voice heard." Today, Bentley is not on the BOCC, so his voice is simply lost in the throng. Roeber was on the BOCC who fought for the right to farm rule and won! The BOCC is the governing board of Delta County. Mark Roeber has been a key player on the board and that board has moved the county forward. He gets my vote and should get yours.
