Roger D. Brown died Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Delta County Memorial Hospital. He was 80.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 26, at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel, with Ron Howard officiating. Inurnment will be at Delta City Cemetery.
Mr. Brown was born in Delta March 8, 1936, to Darrel and Doris (Osborn) Brown. He graduated from Delta High School in 1954, then received an associate degree from Mesa Junior College.
On Nov. 15, 1974, he married Anna Jean Castoe in Englewood.
Mr. Brown had a 42-year career in law enforcement. He worked for the Colorado State Patrol, was a sergeant with the Delta County Sheriff's Office, and retired as a lieutenant with the Colorado Department of Corrections.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and giving people a hard time.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jean Brown of Delta; two sons, Ralph Rollins and Jim Williams, both of Delta; three daughters, Roxanne, Michele (Terry) Ball of New Town, N.D., and Laura (Loran) Vogler of Ashland, Neb.; one brother, Tom (Candy) Chrestman of Cottage Grove, Ore.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Hopkins.

At about 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, officers of the Delta Police Department were dispatched to a robbery reported at Arby's, located at 107 Gunnison River Drive. An extensive search of the area was conducted and the suspect was not located.
The suspect was reported to have walked into Arby's and after a brief conversation with an employee, was able to leave the store with a small amount of cash and coins.
