Ronald Ayers

Ronald Roy Ayers died March 2, 2018, at his home in Paonia. He was 85.

Services will be held at a later date.

Ronald Roy Ayers was born Dec. 1, 1932, to John and Nancy (Allshouse) Ayers in Robinson, Pa. He spent his childhood and attended school in Robinson. After graduating high school, he served in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard.

On June 4, 1952, he married Alma Jean Penrose in Winchester, Va. They moved from Henderson to Paonia in 1996.

Mr. Ayers was a member of Paonia United Methodist Church; he was also an active member of the VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading westerns and spending time with family.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Alma Ayers; sons, Randy (Kathleen) Ayers and Rick (Carol) Ayers; daughter, Eva Ayers; sister, Joan Weaver; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Ayers; brother, Jack Ayers; and a son, Ronald Gene Ayers.
