Rotary supports local students | School, Cedaredge

Photos submitted The Cedaredge Elementary School third grade class of Mrs. Leslie Hoerr is shown with Cedaredge Rotary Club members as they are joined by Principal Daniel Renfrow and Assistant Principal Sissily Brown.

Each year the Cedaredge Rotary provides nice, hardbound Scholastic Children's Dictionaries for each third grader at Cedaredge Elementary School.

The kids are always more than excited to receive them.

The teachers work with them throughout the year in their classroom, and then each child gets to take their dictionary home so they can use it through their school years.

Although a lot of resources come through the Internet, the opportunity to have this information without having to have a computer handy seems to be a great way for the kids to learn.

One focus of Rotary International is education, and members feel that supporting local schools with this gift to the children is just one of the ways to fulfill that goal on the ground level and to our local schools.

The Cedaredge Rotary Club meets each Tuesday at noon at RJs Steakhouse. Anyone who is interested in participating in this active group of individuals dedicated to community service both locally and internationally, please contact the club's membership committee: Gloria Good at 856-7077 or Paul Lyons at 856-7985.
