Roy H. Long died Feb. 5, 2018, at his home in Cory. He was 85.
Funeral services were held Feb. 9, with interment following at Mesa View Cemetery. Military honors were provided by Lee Marts VFW Post #3571.
Mr. Long was born June 29, 1932, to Roy and Marjorie Long in Cory. He attended Fairview School for eight years and graduated from Delta High School in 1950.
In February 1954, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He spent 13 months with the occupational forces in Germany and was honorably discharged Jan. 26, 1956.
On Jan. 24, 1958, he married Lucile McCracken in Olathe. He managed Tongue Creek Ranch for 20 years and then purchased his family ranch, the 3L Bar. He farmed and ranched with his son Daniel, and then grandsons, Cullen and Dustin Long, for the remainder of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lucile Long; son, Daniel (Raya) Long; two grandsons, Cullen and Dustin Long, all of Cory; brother, Wayne Long of Grand Junction; and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Lukas Roy Long.
Memorial donations may be made to the Delta High School FFA program.
