Rufus Webb of Grand Junction died July 11, 2017, at the HopeWest Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction. He was 88.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 14, at the Taylor Funeral Chapel. Interment followed in Mesa View Cemetery in Delta.
Mr. Webb was born in Leroy, Kan., Aug. 1, 1928, to Wilber and Bessie (Johnson) Webb.
Mr. Webb served in the U.S. Navy after graduating from high school. He served for 26 years and retired as a chief warrant officer 4.
On Oct. 11, 1952, he married Lois Nichols in Oak Harbor, Wash. They moved to Delta after he retired from the U.S. Navy. They lived in Delta for 46 years before moving to Grand Junction in May 2017 to be near family.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lois Webb; three children, Debra (David) Borum, Gary (Gail) Webb and Robert (Janet) Webb; five siblings, Elnora Turner, Robert Webb, Edith Kinder, Norman Webb and Roland Webb; four grandchildren, Casey Borum, Holly Webb, Jeffrey (Ashley) Borum and Heather
(Richard) White; five great-grandchildren, Jayden and Meryah White, and Canon, Tristan and Sierra Borum; and extended family.
He was preceded in death by four siblings, Charles Hunt, Harold Webb, Sanford Webb and Naola Webb.

On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
