The Mountain Harvest Festival 5k Run, Walk, Stroll not only follows a great course this year, it benefits two good causes.
Organizer Dave Knutson said the course follows the route of the early MHF races. It begins at the south end of Grand Avenue across from Lizzy's Market and travels to Mathews Lane, up O Road onto Lamborn Mesa, and back down Lamborn Mesa Road into town.
The route is more scenic than in recent years and gives participants a chance to see some of the area's beautiful farmland, added Knutson. The course offers a challenge for the more competitive runners, yet is suitable for families, beginners, strollers, and even dogs -- on a leash, of course.
Race-day registration is $25, $15 for students and free for ages 10 and under. Cost includes a full breakfast following the race and supports the Mountain Harvest Creative and the Flight of the Eagle Project at Paonia High School.
