Eckert resident Ruth Phillips died Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, at her home. She was 100.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Delta.
Ruth Mason was born in Albion, N.Y., July 19, 1915, to Frank Wood and Nina (Lamont) Mason. She spent her childhood and attended school in Albion, graduating from Albion High School in 1933. She received a bachelor's degree from Cornell University in 1937.
On Nov. 16, 1940, she married Arthur Phillips Jr. in Albion, N.Y.
Mrs. Phillips moved to Cedaredge in 2001 and Eckert in 2006.
She was a member of the DAR in Charlottesville, Va., and was the founder of the Senior Hikers in Cedaredge. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Delta. She enjoyed hiking and traveling around the world.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by a son, Arthur (Janice) Phillips III of Eckert; and a daughter, Frances Phillips (Greg) Lazear of Cedaredge.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Arthur, in November 1986 in Charlottesville, Va.; a brother, Albert Mason; and a sister, A. Louise Miller.
