Longtime Delta resident Ruth Wethington died Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Willow Tree Care Center. She was 85.
A memorial service was held on April 1 at Calvary Baptist Church in Delta.
Ruth Marilyn Wethington was born in Chaffee, Mo., Aug. 24, 1930, to Thomas and Clara (Dawson) Wethington. The family moved to Delta when she was young. She graduated from Delta High School in 1949 and received a bachelor's degree from Colorado State University.
After teaching for nine years in Illinois, she moved back to Delta in 1962 where she taught and coached at Delta High School.
Ms. Wethington enjoyed swimming, skiing, traveling and bowling, traveling to tournaments throughout the U.S. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sister, Margaret Faulkner of Aurora; her sisters-in-law, Archie Wethington of Delta and Jane Wethington of Grand Junction; her nieces, Mary (Jack) McKelvy, Lynda (Brent) Wareham, all of Montrose, Jeri (Bruce) Paull of Aurora, Jacqui (Joe) Frehling of Tampa, Fla.; her nephews, Terry Faulkner of Aurora and John (Barb) Wethington of Mesa, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Sam and Jerry Wethington.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Calvary Baptist Church or to a cancer society.

At about 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, officers of the Delta Police Department were dispatched to a robbery reported at Arby's, located at 107 Gunnison River Drive. An extensive search of the area was conducted and the suspect was not located.
The suspect was reported to have walked into Arby's and after a brief conversation with an employee, was able to leave the store with a small amount of cash and coins.
