Delta County residents, let me introduce myself. I am Jill Jurca, and I am running for the open school board seat for District 2. This position is within the boundaries of the City of Delta, but is still a voice for all residents of the county. I am running because I feel that I have the background with the district to make good, solid, conservative decisions, based off facts and figures, to provide the best education possible within the constraints of our current budget.
I have a strong knowledge of the district and keep abreast of the current issues by following the board minutes and board packets as they are published, as well as speaking with administrators and teachers. I served on District Accountability for nine years, sat on multiple school district budget panels, a citizens panel during our past search for a superintendent, and have been extensively involved with my children's schools for the past 12 years. I am currently on the DHS booster club/ parent accountability team and sitting president of the DHS Band Parent organization. My daughter Sara is a senior at DHS, and my youngest, Ana, is a freshman.
I am deeply passionate about the school system in Delta County and want to help to provide the BEST education that we, as a district, can to all students. I feel our educational diversity is an asset because not all students fit the same mold and have always been proud of the choice we offer to all learners. I graduated from Delta High School and would be honored to serve as your representative to the board to help make it an even better place for our kids. Please feel free to contact me via email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions. Thank you for your consideration.
