School district needs a strong, sensible voice

By Kurt Roithmayr

Dear Editor:

I would like to endorse Jill Jurca for the open seat in District 2 to serve on the school board in Delta. Jill is a graduate of Delta High School and is currently involved with DHS as the mother of two very smart young ladies. Currently her daughters are in band and Jill is the president of the DHS Band parent organization. She's also involved with the DHS booster club and parent accountability team. Jill Jurca has a passion for education as is evident by her tireless service in multiple district budget panels during the leaner years. She has served nine years at district accountability and on a citizens panel during a past search for a superintendent.

The district can always use a strong and responsible voice with experience and solid judgment. I believe Jill Jurca would be effective in contributing her unique talents when collaborating and working as a team with other board members as she has proven in multiple district-related positions such as budget task force and district accountability. Her experience also lends itself to a successful school board in adopting curriculum, in gaining a solid understanding of vendor contracts, and working to set a school calendar. I've witnessed her fantastic analytical, leadership and collaborative skill sets to move this district forward. In my opinion, this will contribute to a local economy that needs desperate help. An educated workforce is a workforce that is less likely to become unemployed and more likely to gain employment. I know firsthand that Jill is interested in the success of all students in the district. I'd like to ask the citizens of Delta County to please consider Jill Jurca for School Board Member for District 2.
