Senior CommUnity meals for August

Senior CommUnity meals are served at four dining sites in Delta County -- Cedaredge Community Center (Monday-Thursday), Delta Community Center (Monday-Friday), Hotchkiss Senior Center (Monday-Thursday) and Paonia Senior Citizen Center (Monday, Wednesday and Friday). Meals on Wheels are also delivered from each location. The menu through Aug. 31 follows:

Monday, Aug. 1 -- Beef and rice burrito, tomato/lettuce/onion, refried beans, mandarin spinach salad and apple crisp.

Tuesday, Aug. 2 -- Dijon chicken, rotini with mushroom sauce, cottage cheese and peach salad, peas and pearl onions, fresh orange and cinnamon roll.

Wednesday, Aug. 3 -- Roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, honey-glazed carrots, kidney bean salad, wheat roll and strawberry shortcake.

Thursday, Aug. 4 -- Hamburger, lettuce/tomato/onion, tossed salad, baked beans, potato salad and strawberry gelatin dessert.

Friday, Aug. 5 -- Barbecue beef on wheat bun, macaroni calico salad, broccoli with cheese sauce and applesauce.

Monday, Aug. 8 -- Baked fish, fish house coleslaw, green beans, potato wedges, rye roll and peaches.

Tuesday, Aug. 9 -- Meat loaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, tossed salad, broccoli, oatmeal roll and deluxe banana pudding.

Wednesday, Aug. 10 -- Oven-fried chicken, potato salad, three-bean salad, wheat roll, sweet corn and watermelon.

Thursday, Aug. 11 -- Roast turkey with cranberry sauce, baked potato with sour cream, green salad, California blend vegetables, wheat roll and birthday cake.

Friday, Aug. 12 -- Baked lasagna, tossed salad, green beans, garlic breadstick and fruit cocktail.

Monday, Aug. 15 -- Cheeseburger on wheat bun, lettuce/tomato/onion, carrot-raisin salad, sweet potato fries, half an orange and peanut butter cookie.

Tuesday, Aug. 16 -- Oven-fried chicken, fettuccini primavera, pickled beets, chocolate oatmeal no-bake cookie and pineapple tidbits.

Wednesday, Aug. 17 -- Sloppy joes on wheat bun, parmesan potato wedges, coleslaw, western corn and honey bee ambrosia.

Thursday, Aug. 18 -- Ham loaf, scalloped potato, vegetable pasta salad, mandarin oranges and bananas.

Friday, Aug. 19 -- Chicken salad on homemade bun, lettuce/tomato/onion, creamy cucumbers, potato salad and cranberry apple crisp.

Monday, Aug. 22 -- Beef tacos with choice of crisp or soft shell, guacamole, salsa, sour cream, tossed salad, orange-spiced carrots and pineapple.

Tuesday, Aug. 23 --Spaghetti with meat sauce, tossed salad, Italian vegetables, breadstick and diced peaches.

Wednesday, Aug. 24 -- Sweet and sour chicken over brown rice, Oriental blend vegetables, mandarin spinach salad, wheat roll, sliced pears and fortune cookie.

Thursday, Aug. 25 -- Roast pork, mashed potatoes and gravy, candied bacon Brussels sprouts, pineapple coleslaw and fresh strawberries with whipped topping.

Friday, Aug. 26 -- Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, fresh veggie salad, green beans, wheat roll, ice cream and cinnamon baked apples.

Monday, Aug. 29 -- Chicken and noodles, chateau vegetable blend, mixed green salad, breadstick, citrus splash mousse cake and fresh orange.

Tuesday, Aug. 30 -- Hamburger on wheat bun, lettuce/tomato/onion, baked beans, coleslaw and watermelon.

Wednesday, Aug. 31 -- Baked fish, fish house coleslaw, green beans, oven roasted potatoes, buttermilk biscuit and honey bee ambrosia.
