Shawn Dickinson of Crawford died Thursday, July 7, 2016. He was 30.
A celebration of life was held July 16 at Wilson Head American Legion Post #97 in Paonia. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
Shawn David Lunis Dickinson was born in California Oct. 24, 1985, to Robert and Barbara (Lunis) Dickinson. The family lived in Antioch, CA. In 1994, they moved to Paonia where Mr. Dickinson attended Paonia High School.
He served his country in the U.S. Army for three years. He received numerous medals, badges and ribbons for his heroic service.
He enjoyed playing the piano and gardening with his mother, fly fishing, teaching people to fly fish, physical fitness, the MMA, and outdoor activities including hiking, camping and adventures with his nephews. He was a baseball and Denver Bronco fan.
He is survived by his father, Robert Dickinson of Crawford; two sisters, Michele (Kevin Reisbeck) Hodapp and Kimberly (Sean) Thorngate; two nephews, Michael Hardey and Samuel Thorngate; and 10 brothers-in-arms, "The Barbaric Horde."
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Dickinson; and his grandparents.

At about 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, officers of the Delta Police Department were dispatched to a robbery reported at Arby's, located at 107 Gunnison River Drive. An extensive search of the area was conducted and the suspect was not located.
The suspect was reported to have walked into Arby's and after a brief conversation with an employee, was able to leave the store with a small amount of cash and coins.
