Judy Thompson and Nancy Reaksecker
Sisters Nancy Reaksecker and Judy Thompson have always enjoyed spending time together. Now, as new business owners, they're also enjoying the chance to be their own bosses.
Nancy and Judy purchased Cooper Accounting from Sherri Cooper and have renamed the business Accurate Tax & Accounting Service. The location is the same -- at 309 Main Street in the heart of downtown Olathe.
Judy has helped Sherri out during tax season for several years. When Sherri announced her intention to retire, Judy and Nancy got together and decided to purchase the business.
Both are Olathe High School graduates who grew up on a farm on California Mesa. "We have never done anything but work," they said.
Nancy earned a bachelor's degree in accounting and has worked in the field since she was 19 years old. Judy was the assistant director of the Montrose County Housing Authority and has maintained the books for several businesses in the area.
They're coupling their practical experience with upgraded computer software to serve their local clients. They tailor their services to meet the individual needs of each business. Payroll, sales tax remittance, monthly and quarterly unemployment reports and income tax returns are among the many services they offer. They are familiar with resources in the area and can offer helpful advice on many aspects of small business.
In the spring, individual clients will appreciate the convenience of e-filing their tax returns.
New clients are encouraged to call 323-5448 for more information.
