Stanley Eugene Austin died Jan. 4, 2016.
He was a native of Durango and enjoyed sharing Colorado history, hunting, horses, motorcycles, and all outdoor activities.
He was a basketball referee and enjoyed watching sports, especially when his children were involved. He was active in public service with Durango Fiesta Days, Elks Lodge, his church and many other service organizations.
Mr. Austin worked as a banker at The Burns National Bank in Durango, Colorado Bank and Trust in Delta, and other banks in the area.
He is survived by Opal Waters; his sons, Robert (Connie) Austin of Rockwall, Texas, and Mark (Lori) Austin of Grand Junction; his daughter, Connie (Hal) Schoo of Gilbert, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, John Austin; and a daughter, Diana Austin.
Services were held Jan. 8 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Durango.
