Longtime Cedaredge resident Stanley Neil Hocker died Sept. 14, 2017, at La Villa Grande Care Center in Grand Junction. He was 90.
A viewing will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cedaredge. Funeral service is at 11 a.m. and interment will follow at Cedaredge Cemetery with military honors by Grand Mesa VFW Post #9221.
Mr. Hocker was born on July 11, 1927, to Stanley and Marcella (Maddox) Hocker in Grand Junction. He spent his childhood and attended school in Grand Junction. After graduating from Grand Junction High School, he served in the U.S. Army.
On June 8, 1952, he married Helen Elliott in Cedaredge. Their marriage was sealed July 10, 1965, at the St. George Temple in St. George, Utah. They were married 49 years before her death.
Mr. Hocker was a devoted member of the LDS church and enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and family reunions.
He is survived by his children, Jeff (Navana) Hocker, Greg (Brenda Carle) Hocker, Bruce (Jennifer) Hocker, Debbie (Allen) Richardson, Teri Gustafson, Lori (Kevin) Carson and Beth (Joe) Johnson; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen.
