Steve Glammeyer, City of Delta utilities and public works director, was recently awarded the American Public Works Association (APWA) Public Works Executive credential from APWA's Donald C. Stone Center. The PWE credentialing program is part of the Donald C. Stone Center developmental program for public works executives focusing on the skills necessary to lead through the challenges facing the profession.

"The DCS candidates who have completed the PWE program have developed skills to lead and implement change to move their organizations forward," said APWA executive director Scott Grayson.

Glammeyer has been the utilities and public works director in Delta since 2011. In his current position, he directs and manages four utilities -- water, sewer, trash and electric, as well as streets and storm water, and fleet and facilities. He also oversees capital projects, budgets, grant applications and funds, management of utility crews, and the oversight of operations, along with 29 employees. Previously, he was Delta's assistant utilities director and the assistant city manager, as well as the public works director. Prior to that, he worked as staff engineer under the direction of the community development director and also served as engineering technician.

Glammeyer earned a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Colorado State University in Fort Collins. He also earned a certificate of computer aided drafting and design from Delta-Montrose Vocation Technical School in Delta. He is a member of several professional organizations including APWA, the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Water Works Association, as well as serving on the board of directors for the Colorado Association of Municipal Utilities, Municipal Energy Agency of Nebraska, Project 7 Water Authority and Tri-County Water Conservancy District.

APWA is headquartered in Kansas City, Mo., has an office in Washington, D.C. and 63 chapters in North America.
