Steven E. Harris of Eckert died Jan. 27, 2017, at Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction. He was 67.
A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, at Surface Creek Community Church of Austin with Pastor Paris Wallace of The Connection Church in Grand Junction officiating.
Mr. Harris was born in Hill City, Kan., March 26, 1949, to Edward and Detta (Born) Harris. He spent his early childhood in Kansas, then moved to Evergreen where he graduated from Evergreen High School. After graduation, he attended Trinidad State Junior College and earned a degree in automotive mechanics. He was a diesel mechanic.
On Aug. 24, 1968, he married Susan Brock in Evergreen. They lived in Denver until 1983 when they moved to Eckert.
Mr. Harris was a member of The Connection Church in Grand Junction and the Thunder Mountain Wheelers. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, gardening and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Susan of Eckert; his son, Michael Harris of Delta; his daughter, Suzette (Corey) Morin of Thief River Falls, Minn.; his brother, Stan (Sheryl) Harris of Cedaredge; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Detta Harris; and a brother, Monty Harris.

On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
