Wade Stinson, a senior at Delta High School, was selected for the All-State Choir held Feb. 4-6 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver.
Stinson qualified by singing a solo at a regional audition in October. The same group of judges traveled across the state, to ensure consistency in evaluating the high school juniors and seniors who set their sights on All-State honors.
Once selected, they were required to pass a second round of auditions, held the weekend of rehearsals.
After final selection, the vocalists were randomly divided into three groups -- men's, women's and mixed choirs. Stinson was placed in the men's choir.
The men's choir was directed by Jonathan Palant, who teaches at Richland College in Dallas, Texas, and serves as minister of music at Dallas' Kessler Park United Methodist Church.
Stinson is a member of Delta High School's show choir and expressed appreciation to director Julia Nicholas for making the audition possible.
On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
