By Press Release

Twelve Cedaredge High School students are involved in a fundraising project to participate in an educational field trip to Costa Rica next year.

"We have 12 students participating," trip organizer Kevin Dunbar, a CHS instructor, told the DCI in an email. The 12 students are Julia Jackson, Nevaeh Martinez, Olivia McCrackin, Jessica Craig, Owen Craig, Amy Owens, Makayla Kehmeier, Cole Stumpf, Hannah Carlson, Hannah Hatheway, Grace Hatheway and Camarae Harless.

The trip package is offered by Ecology Project International which conducts student excursions to other venues in the Western Hemisphere as well.

A fundraising event was hosted by the students at the high school on Nov. 1, and they have been engaged in other community service work to raise the needed funds.

The experience includes 50 hours of coursework and 20 hours of field research on a variety of topics.

Dunbar explained, "My wife, Heather (sixth grade Cedaredge Middle School science teacher), and I will be chaperones for the trip."
