Cowboy at the Cross Church recently moved to the Delta Sales Yard on 5th Street just west of Confluence Drive. Morning worship has almost doubled in attendance, according to Pastor Shane Kier. The church is now preparing for its extensive Bible camp schedule.
Announced at last Sunday service were the dates for the expanded Bible camp program starting June 7-10 for aspiring rodeo cowboys and cowgirls, followed by Pony Camp on June 22-24. The many volunteers will rest until Horsemanship Camp July 12-15 led by world champion reiner Doug Mulholland traveling from Oklahoma. The group then moves to the Stillwater Camp at Grand Junction to assist as clinicians and speakers on July 21.
This is the 20th year for Rodeo Bible Camp led by Kier and his wife Amanda. Camps are held at their ranch on Tongue Creek near Eckert a few miles northeast of Delta. Last year the program was expanded to the Apache Reservation in Arizona, and continue this year July 26-29.
Proposed is a camp for veterans in September. Young participants are expected from throughout the southwestern region with some from contiguous states.
The ministry meets at the Delta Sales Yard every Sunday for services at 10 a.m. This location is courtesy of Delta Sales Yard owners Dan and Holly Varner. There are plans for a large facility which would accommodate regular clinics, weekly rodeos and church activities.
