Norman and Gladys Sunderland of Delta will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Sept. 18.
They were married in Boise City, Okla., on Sept. 18, 1955. They plan to celebrate their 60th anniversary at a family dinner.
The Sunderlands have three children, Randy (Pat) Sunderland, Roxanne McCormick and Ron (Ann) Sunderland, all of Delta. They have four grandchildren, two great-grandsons and are anticipating the arrival of three more great-grandchildren in the next six months.
The Sunderlands were involved in the newspaper business most of their married lives. They lived in Kansas, Alaska and Montana before purchasing The Limon Leader in 1972. In 1984 they bought the North Fork Times and moved to Paonia. The family corporation they founded has owned the Delta County Independent since 1987.
They are active in Redeemer Lutheran Church and enjoy antiquing, traveling in their RV and family activities.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Delta County Board of Commissioners called a special meeting to consider the board's response to the Bureau of Land Management's preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) concerning the lease parcels proposed for the December BLM sale.
Several people from the North Fork were present to provide input.
