Police chief Dan Sanders reported during the Aug. 17 Town Board meeting that officers had just that day apprehended a wanted person who is a suspect in a rash of burglaries. The burglaries resulted in a $5,000 loss for a local restaurant. A planned hit on artifacts at Pioneer Town was foiled by advance information from an informant, Sanders reported.
He said that his officers are actively engaging with local businesses to help them be better aware of potential loss points for burglars.
On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
