The fight has just begun

Bike trails in the Dominguez Escalante NCA -- I can't believe that the BLM is considering this proposal. I recently applied for a right-of-way with the BLM to place a properly lit and properly displayed flag pole for an American flag at the Highway 50 Christmas tree site and was turned down. No logical reason was given. I believe my mistake was to call Congressman Tipton's office and ask for a call of support to the BLM. It appears that the local BLM is no fan of Congressman Tipton.
As you are all aware, that Christmas tree is not the original and was planted there by CDOT when the previous tree died. I am quite sure CDOT did not apply for a right-of-way to plant the tree which would have been required. My proposed flag pole would have simply replaced the existing small pole and I committed to maintain the pole, light and flag through the VFW in Grand Junction.
You have been thinking all along that the BLM were managers of our public land. Wrong, it's their land, not ours. I do not think that bike trails would be beneficial to anyone other than the few mountain bikers that want trails put in the canyon. I see no gain for Delta.
Friends and supporters have suggested that I start a Facebook campaign to obtain approval for a new flag pole. I believe that method would further irritate the BLM so instead, I have written the president and every senator and congressperson that I can find an address for. I am hoping for someone with higher authority to change the minds of the BLM. It's not over; I have just begun to fight!
