The Nature Connection, a hub of outdoor recreation for students and their families in Delta County and Olathe, is hosting a series of planning meetings to create community-specific plans for providing youth and their families opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities including skiing, hiking, biking, rafting and kayaking, archery, camping and more.
Meeting times and locations are as follows:
Cedaredge -- 6-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29, Cedaredge High School;
Olathe -- 3:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, Olathe Elementary School;
Delta -- 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, Bill Heddles Recreation Center; and
North Fork area -- 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, The Nature Connection, 397 Bulldog Street, Hotchkiss.

On Dec. 4 Delta County Commissioners Doug Atchley, Mark Roeber and Don Suppes denied the application of Paonia Holdings, LLC for a change of land use for the property at 41322 Highway 133, with an adjacent residence at 41402 Highway 133 and an ancillary property at 16180 Stevens Gulch Road.
The property is owned by Bowie Resources, LLC, and was formerly used as a coal load-out site.
