The City of Delta has become aware of an online bill pay service which has been collecting payments from City of Delta utilities customers. The City of Delta recommends customers use the city website (www.cityofdelta.net) to pay their bill directly to the city. This option is free, fast, and secure and will not cause any delays in the payment process.
An online bill pay service, DOXO.COM, is offering to collect City of Delta utility payments. This service collects your payment and charges additional fees. DOXO.COM is not affiliated with the City of Delta in any way. In addition to charging fees, the service results in a time delay between when you pay and when the city receives your payment. This delay may result in late fees, disconnection notices and additional inconveniences to utility customers trying to pay their bill online.
The City of Delta and the Delta Police Department caution online bill payers in the use of all-in-one bill pay services. There are several out there. Some are legitimate and some are scams. There is no way to know or detect if the service you are selecting is a scam or not. These services are collecting your financial information and may jeopardize your bank account and personal identification information. The best practice for online bill pay and financial services is to use a direct contact service.
